This information isn’t correct. Age of consent in Australia is a state-by-state thing and it is different in each state.

the legal age is 16 in all states of australia except for south australia and tasmania where the legal age is 17

this is actually correct if both people are over 16 (and consenting) it is legal, however if one is 16 or under and one over 18 then it is illegal.

In South Australia its 16 if they are both 16, and 17 at all other times.
