This is only the law on the ISLAND OF MONTREAL… rest of Quebec you are ok to turn right on a red light.

The law used to be no turn on red light ONLY in the province of Quebec. NOT CANADA ! ! !
That law has now changed ! ! Only On the Island of Montreal does not permit right on red. Good call LadyK.

Actually this is still true in Quebec City. Most of downtown you can’t turn right on reds, and the the rest of the city if you are going to turn onto a main road, you can’t do it on a red either (typically between 7am and 10pm).

This isnt true at all, for several years now. the only place in quebec where you still are not allowed is on the island of montreal, where traffic is always bad and dangerous

Actually it’s only the island of Montreal AND any other point in Quebec designated by local authorities. Near schools, busy intersections, etc. In other words watch for the signs! Most of those designated are stupid.
