Christmas in New Orleans must be pretty boring, then, if you can’t decorate a Christmas tree.

Actually, the quoted statute does not ban the decorating of Christmas trees. It prohibits people from damaging or destroying public property (harming or killing trees), which are not only aesthetically pleasing, increase property values, but most importantly, vital to our existence.

This is some shit… It says you can’t INJURE a tree which you aren’t doing by decorating. And even that only applies to NATURAL trees. Ever been to CHRISTMAS IN THE OAKS in CITY PARK?? I’m pretty sure that’s legal.

C’mon… This law was created because people were (2 primary reason)

1) CUTTING down the trees in the medians and on the sides of highways to use as Christmas trees in their homes…

2) Spray painting the trees in the medians and parks white, to simulate snow, then decorating them.

Either way the trees died… And the spray painted ones cost the city money.

Leave a comment and discuss this stupid law!
