Actually American English is completely different from Canadian English and the English from Britain. In fact all three are different from one another! In Canada we write certain words differently than American English and for some stupid reason we pronounce Z like ZED. (Yeah don’t ask me I didn’t come up with it and I pronounce it ZEE) So many ignorant retorts. >.< That's the difference between Canada and the U.S., we learn about different cultures/histories and Americans learn about American culture/history.

Ok, I see whats going on here. You horrible gringos are making fun of myself, my son and our Mexican-American brethren. Sure, we speak Spanish in the privacy of our homes, cars, taquerias and lavenderias. Sure, we eat tacos, burritos and chimichangas. I would even admit that we mow lawns and hit pinatas with small sticks! Does that make us need to speak English? No. Does that make us miss making love to each other while listening to the Macarena? To say that we can not speak English in Illinois means that Spanish will be the chosen language of this state. The gringos don’t have the culture, passion or work ethic of the Mexican-American population. I myself work the fryer at Burger King. We have new fries (or papas fritas). I’m on Eduardo’s side. That’s a major insult. Taken down or not, it’s a rediculous law that poses as slightly racist in my opinion.
And by the way. We don’t speak English. Yes, our language (AMERICAN) is stemmed off of English, but it is not English. You take a British man and put him in your typical suburb community and he’ll have no idea what the hell we’re talking about. The slang is completely different.

I agree to that. But I say that law should be effective over all of usa. go make up your own language. leave the English language to the British, Canadians, Australians, Zealanders ect.
