If it happens on highways you have to put up the sign 100 meters away, because people ofc drives faster there and needs more reacting time to slow down. You may think that you can see the car from 50 or 100 meters away, and yes in most cases u can, but what if it happens at nighttime when its dark, or around a corner?

This is not stupid. If you crash your car or is involved in an accident you have to put up a red reflecting triangle sign up on the road 50 meters away from your car, NOT on your car. This is to warn others that you may be blocking the road or there have happend an accident so that the others know that they have to be careful driving by, so they wont make the accident larger by crashing into the first car.
