Cussing over the telephone is against the law.

Sec. 14-49. Profanity over telephone. It shall be unlawful for any person in the operation of any telephone installed within the city, to make use of any vulgar vituperation or profane language into and over such telephone. (Code 1914, § 663)

Saying obscene things on the telephone is illegal.

It is unlawful for one to allow another to use the first person’s telephone in order to make prank phone calls.

It is illegal to use profane language on a playground.

It is illegal to carve your initials on a tree, even if it is on your own property.

You may not swear in front of women and children. (Repealed, 2002)
